The simplest honest answer to: when can I water, and who can fix my retic.
Waterwise Directory is an independent Perth-only directory of Waterwise-endorsed reticulation installers, paired with a Water Corporation watering-days lookup tool that resolves the exact roster group for any postcode and house number.
Why it exists
Perth households deal with a year-round watering roster that nobody can remember. The official Water Corporation page gives you a calendar; figuring out which group your house falls into still requires reading the rule, counting your house number, and trusting yourself to get it right.
At the same time, finding a retic installer here is awkward. Google returns lead aggregators that sell your details. Facebook groups produce inconsistent recommendations. The official Waterwise-endorsement register is a PDF.
We made a directory that does one thing per page, with the data sourced from public records and the installers vetted before they appear.
How it works
- Watering-days lookup — type a postcode and house number, get your two-day-a-week roster, current sprinkler-ban status, and a one-line soil tip for your suburb. No signup, no ads, no email harvesting.
- Suburb pages — a permanent page per Perth suburb with the roster, soil profile, bore prevalence, water-saving tips for that specific ground type, and a list of installers servicing the area.
- Installer listings — three trust tiers (Waterwise endorsed, ABN + insurance verified, unverified) so a homeowner knows what we have and have not checked. The badges are described in detail on the homepage.
Data sources
Every fact on the site traces back to a named source:
- Watering roster: Water Corporation (public information).
- Suburb boundaries: ABS Suburbs and Localities (SAL) 2021, CC BY 4.0.
- Population: ABS 2021 Census G01, CC BY 4.0.
- Soil profiles: curated from publicly-available Perth landscape and DPIRD soil maps.
- Endorsement status: cross-checked against the Waterwise program register operated by Water Corporation. We never claim a listing is endorsed unless that register confirms it.
How we make money
Installer listings are free during launch. When the directory moves to paid, the model is a flat monthly subscription, currently planned at around $30/month per business, with founding listings staying free for an extended trial. We do not take commissions from jobs and we do not sell leads.
The reason: commission-based models leak. Homeowners get a contact, message the installer outside the platform, the job happens off-book, the platform never knows. A subscription aligns incentives — installers pay for visibility, we hold ourselves to delivering that visibility, and the homeowner is never the product.
Honest about what we have not done
- We are pre-launch on installer onboarding. The trust badges on the home page describe what we will verify - they reflect the verification policy we operate under, not a claim that every listed business has been audited. Currently no businesses are publicly listed.
- We are Perth-only in v1. The national schema is ready; expansion to other capitals happens when the Perth side is profitable.
- We are not Water Corporation, the WA Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, or the Waterwise endorsement program. We are an independent third-party directory.
